Ice Spice under fire for casting 16-year-old to twerk in new music video
Fans have expressed concern over the age of an influencer featured in Ice Spice’s new music video who is seen twerking on a bodega counter.
The viral rapper released the music video for her new single ‘Deli’ on Wednesday. The video takes place at a Harlem deli.
Fans were quick to notice that 16-year-old TikTok star Aya Tanjali was featured in the video.
Aya has amassed millions of followers for creating content about teen life, dancing, and lip-syncing.
A massive draw to Aya’s account has been her young age, joining the platform at just 13 years old.
In the music video, Aya twerks on top of a counter as music video extras encourage her.
Twitter and Reddit have exploded with criticism and concern over this decision. Many question why no one on Ice Spice’s team considered Aya’s age when casting her in the video. Others claim it’s unlikely that Ice Spice and her team did not know that Aya is 16 years old, as her “claim to fame” is how young she is.
Ice Spice has not addressed the backlash at the time of writing.

Elon Musk rebrands Twitter to ‘X’
Elon Musk has rebranded Twitter to ‘X’ as the latest unhinged decision that will, no doubt, further tank the platform that he acquired in October 2022 for $44 billion.
Musk spent hours tweeting about his desired rebrand on July 23rd. By the next morning, the iconic Twitter logo had been replaced by an “interim” X logo. X.com now redirects to twitter.com.
The rebrand is not totally surprising for those who have followed Musk’s business ventures over the years.
“The letter “X” has been on just about everything Musk has touched for the last two-plus decades. X.com was the original name for Paypal; it’s in his SpaceX company name; it’s in the name for the Tesla SUV; it anchors X.Ai and his kid X Æ A-12; and he has said he wants to turn Twitter into “X, the everything app.” Now he’s finally doing something with the X.com domain he bought back from Paypal in 2017,” writes Wes Davis for The Verge.
This rebrand seems to be the clearest indication Twitter is no longer the social network it once was, pre-Musk.

Is Bobbi Althoff an industry plant?
Internet users are convinced that TikToker-turned-podcaster Bobbi Althoff is an industry plant after landing interviews with some of the world’s most famous entertainers on her brand new show.
Bobbi is a 25-year-old TikTok creator and mother-of-two who amassed millions of followers for her sarcastic humour and realistic videos about parenting.
Though she’s transitioned out of parenting content, Bobbi notoriously called her children “Richard” and “Concrete” to avoid using their real names online.
On June 1st, Bobbi launched ‘The Really Good Podcast’ where she interviews a new celebrity guest in each episode.
Her third episode, released last week, put the podcast on the map when she interviewed Drake. The interview went viral for their awkward chemistry and Bobbi’s deadpan delivery.
She has also interviewed actor Rick Glassman, social media star Funny Marco, rapper Lil Yachty, and entrepreneur Mark Cuban.
Her podcast’s success has left many internet users questioning if Bobbi is an industry plant given her relative anonymity as an interviewer versus the caliber of her guests.
Though her podcast’s success may seem suspect, Bobbi has been creating content with this same “persona” since 2020 and recently signed with talent agency WME. It’s more likely that her agency thought her sarcastic tone and deadpan humour would make for good interview content, given the success of other similar interviewers like Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg.
All of Bobbi’s interviewees thus far also appear to be represented by WME.

Alix Earle accused of cheating on Braxton Berrios with DKNY heir Sebastian de Felice
TikTok sleuths are convinced that Alix Earle has moved on from Miami Dolphins player Braxton Berrios.
On Monday, July 24th, Deux Moi shared several submissions from people claiming that Alix had cheated on her athlete beau.
The tips seemingly started with screenshots from Reddit that showed a photo of Alix out at a club beside Sebastian de Felice, the grandson of fashion designer Donna Karan of DKNY.
“Lol I was there they were making out for some time,” wrote a Reddit user under the photo.
As the tips came in, one Deux Moi follower claimed the two left the club together. When asked by a follower if Alix had cheated on Braxton with Sebastian, Deux Moi wrote, “Allegedly”.
One day later, Deux Moi posted a video that seems to show Alix making out with Sebastian at the club on the same night they were photographed beside each other.
New rumours have emerged that Sebastian was just 17 years old when they allegedly made out, but that has not been confirmed.
According to pop culture commentary TikTok creator, Amanda Christine, Braxton has since started unliking some of Alix’s Instagram photos— further suggesting the two have split.
Despite Deux Moi’s claim that Alix “allegedly” cheated on Braxton with Sebastian this weekend, it is possible that they split prior. It is also possible that Alix and Braxton were never exclusive, despite being linked since February 2023.
